Jason Ferneau was born and raised in Nebraska & grew up with parents who instilled in him a strong work ethic & an understanding of money management & budgeting. Consequently, he started working early in life by launching a lawn business at age 10. Upon graduating from Columbus Lakeview HS, Jason attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he was a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity & many other campus organizations. Higher education at UNL is A Family Affair as his wife Shelley & oldest daughter Toni are UNL graduates & his youngest daughter Gia will attend the University of Nebraska post graduation from Denver East HS.
The Great Financial Crisis of the late 2000s negatively affected many American families with Jason Ferneau & his family being one of them. In late February 2009, during the apex of the Great Financial Crisis & subsequent stock market bottom, Jason Ferneau read David Swensen’s book Pioneering Portfolio Management & it changed his life forever. He was determined to bounce back & felt he had a mission to help others do the same. He later established Ferneau Asset Management with the investment principles of David Swensen, being the foundation of the firm.
Pioneering Portfolio Management describes an “unconventional approach” to portfolio management. An approach that has historically outperformed the stock market and done so with less stock market risk. It is a strategy utilized by the largest US Endowment Yale Endowment & one that has supplanted Ferneau Asset Management as one of the premier Denver firms for tax advantaged growth & income investment strategies and overall tax mitigation.
Jason is a Nebraska Football & Volleyball season ticket holder and remains an avid fan of University of Nebraska athletics. He supports the local Non-Profit Colorado Miss Amazing & the Special Olympics. He & his family reside in Denver, CO with his wife & 2 daughters.
